Alysa Bainbridge, age 23, was crowned Miss Pennsylvania 2022 at the historic Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York, PA. Awarded a $12,000 scholarship, she will represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Miss America Competition in December at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Uncasville, CT.
A native of Leesport, PA, Alysa performed a lyrical dance routine to “Somebody’s Someone” and also won the Thursday night preliminary $1,000 Social Impact Pitch Award sponsored by Shipley Energy and the $1,000 Women in Media Award sponsored by Fox43.
Alysa is the daughter of Jeff and Michele Bainbridge and a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia with Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a minor in Journalism. She is a graduate student working toward her Master of Science in Leadership at Cabrini University in Radnor, PA.
She plans to take the More Than Tour, her program on mental health and substance abuse, to schools, teaching children how to care for their mental health and be allies to their peers who struggle with it and encourage every student to take the More Than Pledge, which she created to commit people to being stigma-free. Alysa will promote and educate the public about mental health and highlight the stories of people with mental illness. Additionally, she is committed to help end the opioid crisis evidenced by, handing out naloxone to communities throughout Pennsylvania.
As Miss Pennsylvania, she will travel the state as our state representative for the Miss America Organization, sharing her social impact initiative and supporting a variety of community events and organizations throughout her year of service.
The Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Competitions were held June 15, 16 and 18, 2022, at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York, PA, by presenting sponsor, the J. William Warehime Foundation. The competitions are preliminaries to Miss America and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, respectively.
